Tatty Bear

May 1st, 2012 | Posted by tamiyafsg in Bags | Denim | Embroidery - (0 Comments)

I sometimes forget how much I love making bags and when I got asked to make a Tatty Bear themed baby bag, I jumped at the chance.

The specs I received was denim, pink, baby girl and Tatty Bear. So I set to work and came up with this:

I’m rather pleased with the results.

Hello Kitty Bag

February 27th, 2012 | Posted by tamiyafsg in Bags | Denim | Embroidery - (1 Comments)

For Little Gabbi, who I mentioned in the previous post, I wanted to make a special gift. Something nice but functional. She’s very into Hello Kitty at the moment, so I used that as a starting point. I asked her Mama what she needs and an overnight bag seemed to be the best option. I really, REALLY had fun making this bag. It reminded me of how much I enjoy making them! I also used a special piece of fabric, that I’ve had for ages, but the right use for it has never really come along. The colors just worked with Hello Kitty and it became the perfect piece.

I added ribbons to close the bag with.

I also couldn’t find Hello Kitty embroidery designs, so I had to make my own. I like how they came out. To be perfectly honest, I have a bit of bag envy now…

Birthday Tutu

February 27th, 2012 | Posted by tamiyafsg in Tutus - (1 Comments)

A Mama, no actually a friend, no even-more-actually the person who introduced me to R and set my grownup life in motion came to see me for a Tutu for her little girl, who turned 3 last week. Little Gabbi chose her own colors for her tutu – purple, orange, blue and green. Initially, I thought nice, but very bright, although in the end the colors came together beautifully and I think I will definitely be using this combination again for future tutus. She looked like a real princess at her party on Saturday

News and Updates

February 26th, 2012 | Posted by tamiyafsg in Brilliant Ideas | Embroidery | Functional - (0 Comments)

The start of 2012 has been a crazy busy one for Felt So Good – February has brought on immense changes in my life, both personally and for the business. Yes, Felt So Good is now a business, my very own. I’ve basically resigned from my nine-to-five in order to pursue my dream of being a Work From Home Mom. This brings new challenges every day, but I get to spend more quality time with my boys, which makes this drastic step almost entirely worth it.

Some positive news for Felt So Good, which allowed me to make this decision:

  • I am working with Tranquil Body Treats on some of their divine products for their Home-Style Range. I am immensely pleased to work with such a wonderful brand and company. Tranquil Body Treats products are 100% Natural, Vegan-Friendly goodness for your skin. There are 9 fabulous ranges to please your senses, and you’ve totally been denying yourself if you haven’t tried Tranquil Body Treats yet!
  • Journey2Joy is a place where beauty, creativity and happiness meet. It is a place where you can find your joy. Felt So Good will become part of that joy with an exclusive range of Playmats, Taggies, Handy Heaters and Bunting made specially for the Journey2Joy shop, located in Pretoria. Satchel Bags will also feature soon in a variety of beautiful colors for boys and girls. I am SO excited to have my creations in an actual shop!
  • My beautiful clients and customers – had it not been for you,  I would never have had the courage to venture on my own. It makes my heart happy that I can provide you with beautiful, unique items, made specifically for you. I am thankful that you put your faith and trust in me, to create that special gift or outfit.
New items I’ve been working on:
  • Handy Heaters. I quite possibly chose the hottest time of the entire year to come up with this specific item – totally my luck! But, winter time is approaching, not soon enough for some and Handy Heaters will become your new best friends. They are small, microwaveable pouches of warmth, that easily fit into the palm of your hand. But do not despair, you get two (2) in a set so you will have one for each hand. They are small enough to comfortably fit the hands of a child and big enough to not get lost in your own palms. Each set comes with some instructions and ideas for their use. Not only are they great for winter frosties, you can also put your Handy Heaters in the freezer for a while and then use them as eye pouches for tired eyes. Each Handy Heater is light enough to not add extra strain or heaviness on your eyes. They provide just enough dry (not wet, cucumber-y smelling) relief to make your eyes feel fresh again. Each Handy Heaters set is R30.

They also make great gifts for Mother’s Day (specially from the little ones). Handy Heaters are an affordable self-indulgence that no-one should be without!

  • Bunting. Need a pretty way to decorate your new little person’s nursery? Or giving your toddler a room make-over? Having a party? Bunting should be on the top of your list. It provides a quick way to brighten up any room and can be changed as often as you like. Bunting can be customised for you in any color combination or theme. Why not make it extra special by having your child’s name embroidered across the Bunting string? The options are endless!
    Bunting starts from R150.

I think that is all on the news-front for now. I hope you all have a wonderfully productive, peaceful, loved-filled week ahead.

Full Sets

November 30th, 2011 | Posted by tamiyafsg in Bags | Competitions | Cotton | Denim | Functional | Taggies - (0 Comments)

Remember a while ago, I ran a competition here and on Facebook, where two lucky winners each got themselves a Full Set, in their choice of fabrics? This is what the Full Sets looked like once all the formalities were over (Choosing of fabrics, making of sets and finally posting and receiving of sets).

Winner 1:

Cindy chose the Red Animal Print fabric, as well as the Blue with Black Pinstripe fabrics. Fortunately the two went really well together and I added the yellow to brighten it all up.

Winner 2:

Natalie went with the Turquoise and White Dot fabric. I like this pattern, but it didn’t leave me with a lot of options color-wise. But, never you mind, I decided to use matching, textured fabrics instead, to give it a special look and feel. I went with turquoise suede and white minky dot fabric, which turned out pretty nice.

I hope they enjoy using these sets as much as I did making them.

Revising the Tutus

November 30th, 2011 | Posted by tamiyafsg in Brilliant Ideas | Felt | Tutus - (0 Comments)

Last night, I came up with a different way of finishing off the tutus. The way I did it before, with the wrapping around of the ribbons, was okay, but I wasn’t always overly happy with the end-result. I actually didn’t know how else to do it, so plodded along with the ribbons, hoping for the best.

Then I had an idea. I wasn’t sure how it was going to look, and if it would even work at all, but I tried it anyway. I modified the process as I went along, adding this or not doing that.

Needless to say, I totally, absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE how it turned out. From now on, this will be the ONLY way I make my tutus.

I also think the new waistband will be softer on the skin, making the tutus more comfortable to wear.

This purple tutu is a gift for a little birthday girl.

I hope she likes it!

xoxo

PS. For everyone who has ordered a tutu from me before, made the old way, I would like to offer you the option to purchase a tutu made this new way, at 30% off the normal price. (There is no expiry date on this offer)

Chocolate Brown & Sky Blue Tutu

September 28th, 2011 | Posted by tamiyafsg in Functional | Tutus - (0 Comments)

I have had these fabric flowers in brown and blue since FOREVER!! I got them many moons ago when I thought I wanted to do scrapbooking. The flowers are very pretty, and I’ve been slightly sad that I would never get to use them. But then I started making tutus, and thought the flowers would be just perfect as embellishments for one.

So I set about getting the right colored fabric, and this is how it turned out:

And this is my sizer/model. His daddy won’t allow me to ever do this again, but that’s okay, at least I have the sizing for the baby tutus now :D

As you can see, this is a Baby Tutu. It’s still available for purchase @ R100.**

I am rather proud to announce that Felt So Good will now be adding Tutus to the FSG range :D

I created the very first one last night/this morning and I am very pleased with the outcome. This one is black and white with blue for a bit of pop-color.

The pricing will be:
R100 – R125 for babies/little girls
R175 – R225 for older girls
R300 for women who are still little girls at heart

All my Tutus are made on ribbon, so they can be tied for the perfect fit, every time.

I will have pre-made Tutus available, or I can make one to suit your needs.

Baby Sling for a Girl

September 16th, 2011 | Posted by tamiyafsg in Cotton | Denim | Functional - (0 Comments)

I don’t normally advertise that I make these, but I can and I do. This is a non-adjustable Denim Baby Sling (available in different sizes though). I made one for myself when A2 was born and have to say that I preferred this one over the adjustable Babysense ones. I found those ones just had too much fabric and I ‘lost’ my baby in there. He still fit in his sling until about 9 months, and then I got sad that we couldn’t use it anymore…

Anyway, here is one I made for a Mama expecting a little girl anytime soon now:

I love this pink dotty fabric :D
